Local dealer has an F450 lariat crew, but the damn thing doesn’t have the5th wheel prep. Must have had a big bumper pull or something. I’m interested in it because the turning radius of the 450 is supposed to be 10’ shorter than the 350 I have.
You have quite the tow truck on your hands, such mobility.
I've owned a 17' DRW CC F-350 too and the turning radius is ridiculous. If you haven't done so, test drive the 450 back to back with your 350. The 5th wheel is easily added.

Whoa!!That thing is awesome! How does it ride with the shorter wheelbase vs the crew?
The ride is what you would expect, rougher than the extra 34" of the Crew cab. I changed the shocks and added air bags, combined they help out.

Swore I would never be a johnie gun rack p/u truck owner...first 4wd vehicle...a new 79 Plymouth trailduster..then 3 ramchargers...then it was switch to chevy or ford...dodge ram single cab was next...then the 4 doors...there is no gun rack....BUT I COULD NEVER BE WITHOUT 4 DOORS AND A SHORT BED AGAIN...EVER...presentday...loaded 2018 ram 2500

My dads 2007 Ram and my 2012 Power Wagon. I will say his truck is fun to zip around in, but I could never trade it for a Crew Cab.

I have to chuckle a bit to myself at the thought of an 'Off Road' F450.
I know it's a great pkg (for many reasons) to have on a PU, but just how many ppl actually do any 'real' off roading in an F450 - LOL.

Agree, I was envisioning trying to crest a ridge in that beast only to have that l-o-n-g chassis get hung up smack in the middle !
Deisel dually or not, no amount of tq is gonna get you out of that, better pray the winch is working good !

We have 450 and 550 service wagons at the electrical utility that I retired from and they got PLENTY of off road action.
Of course with the ariel boom and tool boxes they are not real good off road trucks!
But it sure beats the hell out of rigging and climbing!

I've always had the biggest heaviest trucks out of everyone I hang out with, and I usually get called to get them out of whatever mess they're in. I always warn them... they need to have someone else on speed dial that can get ME out if I get stuck, or there is no way I'm coming out.

They are a fun old truck. mine still has the military radio in it. It had 5,000 miles on it when I got it from the Government. I wish they AC LOL

Wow, I thought I lucked when finding one with just over 13,000 on it.
A/C? I put a fan on the dash, which when it was hot turned out to be worse than nothing. The roof vent probably helped a lot more.

Have had my M1008 for 10 years now, not getting rid of that one. But should sell the 7,000-mile "old" M1031.
