That is one seriously broken system of measure.
LOL...Wtf? Amazing this garbage is setting regulations...wonder how much more stuff like this exists that the public doesn't know about. My new formula is surface area divided by the square root of the sum of tire PSI multiplied by the IQ of the person who created that garbage. Good grief.

How about MPG/seats(people) + allowance for cargo?

Or does that make too much sense?

Too much sense @BULL. Not going to fly...by the way you are fired from the EPA.

Unbeknownst to me, until now, this must be why I'be been lusting for a regular cab Ram 3500, with the 200+ inch wheelbase.

I would not have anything but a standard cab truck. I bought one of the last made. I hope it lasts me to the end. Big mistake for car MFG's to stop making them. 001_1.jpg

Another vote for the 2nd gen Dakota. I loved mine except the 3.9L V6 was a real dog. Size wise it was perfect, IMO all these PU's are just too big these days. It's fine if you really need a huge work truck, but many (like me) would love to have something smaller. My neighbor has a beautiful '03 Dakota quad with the V8, low miles & looks like new. If they ever decide to sell, I'll be 1st in line even tho I really don't need a 4th vehicle

The new Ranger is an example of how they keep 'growing' these trucks. The old ones were perfect, now these new ones are bigger than an F-150 was back in the late 90's - ARGUH !

2003 Dodge Durango 5.9 V8...same platform as your neighbors. Bought at 88,000 miles ...now at 103,700 miles. Would love the truck version as well.

I have been looking at 78 or 29 F250 4x4's lately. My wallet is gonna hurt if I pull the trigger. Nice condition ones around 15,000. Hell that is almost double for what you could buy brand new.

My truck era was 1986 to about 1998 when I sold my PW. 😣

All my friends had trucks. K5 Blazers, Broncos and one of my best friends had a 1970 F100 with a manual on the column. We swapped trucks one day and I just figured it out. Even the girls drove all things "stick"😁.

Had a gf who had an 84' Supra. Manual. Good times. 🍻🇺🇸

Yup. Same here. Plus Im a dedicated diesel guy.
I still have a 95 1 ton 7.3 ford also.
Crew cab and 8 foot bed.
Used to be the flag ship of the fleet!
We had an 11' Lance and a 20' Alumaweld and we were camping and fishing fools!
Those damn kids had to grow up and spoil everything!

For the last 3 years I have been using crew cab F-450's for towing, Recently Ford made the 450 available in a regular cab and I made the switch. 1576323576556.png

I have a 4WD 2011 Silverado extended cab with 6.5ft bed. First truck,(well I had a ratty 2WD van for a while) and can't believe how I even lived without one my whole life. I bought a tool bin that slips under the back seat. Looks factory and you don't even know it's there. Could not believe how much stuff goes in there and keeps it neat. PLUS the back seat is comfortable if needed even by most full size adults on a normal trip. Would not even consider a regular cab.

I love modern Dodge Challengers and Ford Mustangs but if I was to pick up an old school truck it would have to be a 1st or 2nd generation Chevy K-10.

Local dealer has an F450 lariat crew, but the damn thing doesn’t have the5th wheel prep. Must have had a big bumper pull or something. I’m interested in it because the turning radius of the 450 is supposed to be 10’ shorter than the 350 I have.
You have quite the tow truck on your hands, such mobility.

It's doesn't fit the description since it's not a pickup, but it is a regular cab. Unless the sleeper counts, but it can easily be removed.

Simplicity? Well absolutely nothing is automated in any way. Crank windows, stick shift (of course), and even the air powered windshield wipers are completely individually operated.
It does have power steering, though. Stuff 353.jpg
In some ways its simplicity makes it busy to operate, but that's a big part of the fun driving it, I think.

Whoa!!That thing is awesome! How does it ride with the shorter wheelbase vs the crew?
