Have the dealer & FCA admit it's an OE defect AND get them to agree to pay the shop of your choice to fix it - - let me know how that works out for ya

I gotta feeling they wont give him a hard time...might even be cheaper for them to replace the hood...after all...we can see the hole..but really cant tell to what degree the hood is compromised...my guess...the big guy gets a new hood

Think they would just check off the FF code and push it right through.

That's actually what I would prefer.

The concern I would have with that is they’ll likely send a bare hood. If you are confident in the dealer body shop it’s not a problem.

If it’s seam sealer they won’t give him a hassle. If it’s bondo I’d bet otherwise.

So upon further review i am 1000% it’s sloppy filler at the factory. Went out and looked at my 2016. The two front corners are completely different and it’s plain as day. Ordered the car new and waited for it to be built. Never thought to look there in fours of ownership.
I guess the question to would be buyers is would you refuse the car and wait for another one for this? Or just chalk it up to the cheesy ‘brotherhood of Dodge’ quality control and take it anyway?

Normally, I use the term with caution. the finish of the under hood surfaces are not a concern to the MFG. But in this case it is a major FUBAR.

My hood is as slick as a minnows back in that area. but my 17 hood is different than the new style. It seems thicker for some reason.

No filler or anything else. Of course, it's a different shape. Only thing I noticed is they have two little paper disks in depressions on the hood where, when the hood is down, the hood bump stops fit into, and both of those disks have been pushed out of the depression an identical amount but are still hanging in there, barely. Triple digit runs probably doing that squeeze. I was going to take photos, but my phone is completely dead.

On the late model GTO Holden did not paint the center of the bottom part of the hood, where the sound deadening covered it up. When you pulled that batting to get additional clearance for a supercharger it looked like ass.

Doubtful. The top and the actual corner are perfect. Not sure how someone could drop it on the corner and not compromise the corner on top in some way and only the bottom. Zero evidence of an actual repair. Being in the car business repairs jump out at me. I think they just get sloppy with the sealer. I’ll bet there are a lot more of these sloppy corners if everyone were to check.

These hoods are aluminum the seam sealer is for vibration control but this one was applied by some one that wanted to get home in a hurry.

My mind might be slipping soooooooooooo take this for what its worth. The hoods are 2 pieces of stamped aluminum,(a top and a bottom) and the top or outside is folded over on the edges of the bottom or underside and spot welded in various locations. As far as bondo from the factory, just can't see it.
