That whole corner is Bondo. it does not have the correct lines or shape. And a really poor job of it! Be prepared for the dealer to say you did it! That is some shitty patch job. I'm going to say, water got in behind the repair. and it froze this winter and popped it!
That was my first thought to. But when you look at the material chunked out it's not bondo IMO. Maybe someone on the line just over did it with the seam filler gun and they just smoothed out. Then they just sent it off to paint. Also if it was that damaged (and filled that much with bondo) the topside of hood would've gotten messed up and out of shape too. Just can't determine the consistency of that material from a pic.

It is hard to see in the picture,If you click on the photo and enlarge it, it shows better. I cant tell what type of material it is either. What ever it is, it is way over done. If you look at the corner, see how thick it is.

Yep. I'm sorry @Hunter, I'm hoping for some sloppy unimportant craftsmanship to blame, and I'm wisihi'n for ya', but that is a big honki'n ugly hole.

Well you can bet i'll be popping the hood on my next purchase now lol. The odds of that are pretty much zero but it will be stuck in my head unless I do it.

Don't know how I missed this (all this time).
Drivers side Hood front corner.
Anyone else have anything similar?
Looks like foam or bondo.
Just over 5000 miles, so essentially still new.

I tend to agree with many others on this...someone got a bit overzealous with the seam sealer, applied it with an air bubble in it. Gave way and took the paint with it. Not good, but I'd take it to the dealer and see if they'll do anything under warranty. Would I lose any sleep over it? - well no, I think it would be pretty easy to touch it up to where you'd be the only one to know its there...(too late for that I guess!!). ;-)
I thought I didn’t care one way or another about Octane Red, but every time I see it, I think to myself, “Wow! That is a great color!”
I first seen Octane last year at a car show. It was cloudy out, and I wasn't impressed at all. Then I passed it again after the sun was out and it looked great! Pretty similar to my Jazz Blue Challenger...looked black (or even purple) on cloudy skies and really popped in the sun. Almost like two (or three) different colors! I think personally, I'd only get either metallic or pearl coat colors....the only exception for me is Torred.

Someone slammed the hood on a tool? No telling factory, dealership, or what. May have occured when they opened the hood to reconnect the odometer after driving the car cross country for delivery. :)

That is bullshit. I am warped, so I'd be pretty pissed off.

Very strange! We all want to know what it is after the dealer looks at it. I hope they don’t give you any hassle.

Wouldnt be surprised if the dealer says to go pound sand. They could easily blame the owner/operator. Not saying it’s right obviously but it wouldnt surprise me one bit. Passing the buck is their specialty.

Yes. Actually built on website, then waited for delivery.

So upon further review i am 1000% it’s sloppy filler at the factory. Went out and looked at my 2016. The two front corners are completely different and it’s plain as day. Ordered the car new and waited for it to be built. Never thought to look there in fours of ownership.
I guess the question to would be buyers is would you refuse the car and wait for another one for this? Or just chalk it up to the cheesy ‘brotherhood of Dodge’ quality control and take it anyway?

Have the dealer & FCA admit it's an OE defect AND get them to agree to pay the shop of your choice to fix it - :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: - let me know how that works out for ya ;)

Gonna try. My guess, is they will use touch up paint on it. That problem is that what's stopping it from getting worse.
