Well got Cody’s engine. Found block junk and cylinder across junk. Number 2 had rust.

3@4 both look like not broken in looking at cylinder walls. This is NO WAY a tune issue. So people can stop with that.



it’s a injector or a piston ring problem.

What’s wrong that would make you say the cylinder didn’t break in? All mine still have cross hatch

or are you saying the smooth one is the rusty one (rust at the top). Do you have a regular hellcat posting you can compare side by side? Want to test a theory

I think a regular HC would look like that in cylinder 7, right?

Redeyes don’t respond well to power. More redeyes and demons blow up with the same mods a hellcat has period. I want to see the side by side piston compare. Less material. How’s the wrist pin? Piston melted, but was that really due to an injector… OR…. Did the piston fracture and cause the lean condition 🤔. Piston rings would also cause it to go lean. My bet it on the ringland collapsing because the pistons have less material

What’s wrong that would make you say the cylinder didn’t break in? All mine still have cross hatch
Just the wear on the cylinders it self. Does not look like the cross hatch is worn almost at all on 3&4 and the rest do.

I do have a hellcat piston at work.

Do the cylinders have to show wear? All 8 cylinders in my 5.7 looked like this when I replaced the cam at 187,000 miles and I just went over 200k

I don't think I've seen a Hellcat piston that torched before. Wow, turned metal in to fuel on that one.

Any rods bent?

So what was the white/light grey smoke after the failure? I am no expert on blown engines but I was confused. Usually water evaporates and dissipates almost immediately, this did not. And oil is usually smoky bluish. Any ideas?
