All,

After 1k miles I am throughly disappointed in the serious lack of throttle response in my 2019 Redeye Challenger. I mean it is really a dog. So much that I do not enjoy driving the car and have even considered selling it.

Any thoughts on a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Wondering if that can be tweaked in some tuning software. Just an electronic pedal signal.

Wow..... that sucks. Hope it's something these guys can shake out for you. Like maybe throttle commander.

Interesting my throttle response seems good to me. I have a Redeye with 3.09 gears. The only complaint I have is while drag racing is I have a bit of throttle delay when I foot brake for launch. I'm told that's because it's electronic throttle. I preload the car before launch and it helps.

Can you give us an example of your throttle response issue? During spirited driving? Mine is quick to respond from a roll. My 15" Hellcat M6 was awful though.

P, I believe it is calibrated conservative like that on purpose. Otherwise it may be too wild. I like it on street (unless yours is really different). I am able to nearly idle mine around in traffic. Certainly don't have to give it much throttle. But the response seems like an exponential curve to me. In other words if you press to 40% travel on the pedal the calibration may begin to feed 50% fuel, at 50% you get 60% fuel, until about 85% where the difference needs to diminish so 100=100. Make sense to anyone else with a RE?

Examples include slow response leaving a light at normal speed. It’s almost like it’s stutters then catches.

On a rolling hard acceleration again it’s like it has to build up speed.

When I floor it from a stop it’s not responding immediately and when it does it’s a gradual power build up.

Now my slightly modded 2015 is like, no matter when you hit it, it’s like climbing on the back of a bull. You better be holding on.

Ok, that don't sound right or how I would describe it. Better have them take. a look at it. As you know I had a fine running '15. No doubt this one is quicker and stronger. But, its response to the pedal seems like what I describe above when they get it dialed in. Matter of fact 80-100% pedal travel especially at high speed where another lower gear is grabbed upon patient pressure makes it serious. No mistake then, more than a HC my friend. Looks like Dodge Cares wants to help, good luck.

Here, someone gave me a video of a RE that seemed to be running well one evening. Looks fun! After reading your deal, I uploaded it for you to compare. Hell what good is #797 unless I can help another with a 797?

Waiting to hear from Dodge. I’m totally frustrated with this car. Hell my 2008 SRT8 Challenger was better. Wishing I had kept it now. It was a low number car.

Best of luck, what you described doesn't sound normal to me. My Redeye is a beast! My opinion of course but a low number car only really matters on something collectible that is also desirable. When I look back at this era years from now (If I'm alive), I'd want the best Dodge made at the time. The 2008 SRT8 Challenger 6.1L wouldn't be even remotely on my mind.

Some people have numbered sticker package "collectible cars" and think they are are highly valuable. Only valuable if the demand is there.

Hope you get your Redeye working the way you want it. It should be responding just as quickly if not quicker than your 15' HC.

We are hating it for ya. They will make it right. You must have a dealer you like, you have bought two now, and I don't know what else before that?

I think it may just be your car. The throttle response feels better in my RE then my 16 Hellcat. Something is not right here.

Thanks. I’m hating it too. When these cars came back in 2008 I jumped on one and got #904. In 2014 I jumped and got Hellcat #834. I was going to wait on a Redeye Challenger but I heard Plum Crazy was going away and had to have one. Now I’m regretting buying a lot car. I’ve always order my cars in the past.

I’m about ready to cut my losses on this one.

If it is so bad your regret buying the car then there 100% is a issue going on. I have no regrets buying the RE it is amazing. Take it to the dealer something is wrong. Do you know anyone else in your area with a RE? If so maybe ask if you can take it for a drive to see the difference. Either way I hope you get it sorted out these cars are beasts.

I don’t know anyone in my area with a Redeye. I’ll see what Dodge Cares says. I love these cars but this one......

I'm bummed for you. Wish I was closer and I'd let you give mine a try. My throttle does not feel quite as responsive at my Scat Pack did(bought new and trained it to run since day one), but there's a lot of power to drop in with this redeye and I'm getting more used to it. Let me be clear though, I definitely would not call my pedal unresponsive, and I feel like my redeye does perform how it is supposed to, it's a beast for sure.

I've been in these modern Mopar muscle cars since they came out about 15 years ago and stories like yours have come up from time to time over the years. These cars are slaves to their adaptives on the stock tunes. I would recommend trying to put some miles on it, get her warmed up and lay into it some - even though I get the sense that you have a few cars and the big ones like this may only see weekly trips, but that could be the main thing holding your car back. I've read that these cars learn and build their adaptive tables all the way up to 7500 miles, from the gas pedal, to the trans computer to the engine computer that sets the fuel tables...etc. Not only does it seem like they like to be driven with some authority, they seem to get stronger with miles as they run in. Vipers are especially famous for that.

Good luck - just to cover the basics, you are using good gas, haven't disassembled anything and put it back together wrong, all lines are hooked up and connected along the intake...etc?

Could always tune it, I know other people who thought they bought dogs for Hellcats, but once tuned they all seem to run about the same fwiw...

Well the car is not a daily drive. I get into it occasionally but within reason. I’ve never dismantled anything on this one. I did replace the air filter with a Demon crate filter.
As for good gas, I get the best available in my area but friggin 91 is shit everywhere.

The car sat for several months in Ca. I found it and had it shipped to Az for purchase. I’ll never do that again.
