The emp I've box has three ways to install such.
One is to bypass the heat exchanger for track use.
The other two ways are to run it to the intercooler first and then to the heat exchanger and the other way is reversed from what I just stated.
What are most of you doing?

This is what Tommy came up with at SRT AutoWorks. No way in hell I was taking out the subwoofer. It looks nice and clean.

Looks good. I am old. I hate woofers. Lol. So mine will come out. The box I will be using is 7 gallons. How many gallons is yours?

This is the box to have if you want to use a chiller. My FI Interchiller works best using my ice box with about 2 gallons in the tank. That gives me the fastest and coldest temps. Problem with the flat “Charger” version (that I have) is that 2 gallons barely covers the pump intake and any deceleration uncovers that and sucks air. That won’t happen with this “Challenger” version of the tank. To be honest... before going with the interchiller I don’t know which way the coolant was moving thru the exchanger. I don’t know that it matters. I have now removed the exchanger and closed off the inner opening in the fender well that allows the air to move thru it, so that air duct is now functioning as a cold air inlet for the supercharger. After I get everything else done, I may change over to this tank to get that increased efficiency with the interchiller.

Btw AlleyCat..... Tommy is doing such beautiful installs on these things now you wouldn’t believe it. Using large radius custom fittings they are show car quality. If you are not planning on going to a interchiller and want the type of box I have now, we could possibly work a swap where we put mine in your car and one like James has in mine. 915368D0-C894-4B85-854B-79A1DE1D7FCB.jpeg

I had one and sold it, never installed it. The original plan was to use it, then I decided to go with the FI Interchiller and use it as a reservoir tank for the chiller but the chiller worked so well without it that I never bothered to install it and sold it.

I would call PNR Welding and ask them. I think you can buy directly from them and I would guess that they can still make that one. The one thing that is not a plus with that Challenger side mount is the small opening. Most of the stuff made now has the large opening that allows you to stick a whole bag in there. Much better than feeding that small hole and chasing ice cubes.

I have one of those ice tanks and I’ve not installed it either and don’t plan to now.

I can't help with the installation but,

Water Ice Tanks are great for race cars with Superchargers. My 2010 Challenger had one installed along with a Kenne Bell.

Long before any of the iceboxes that are available today, my Husband bought an ice tank for his "Top Cat" Challenger from https://www.rhodesracecars.com/ He then sent it to HHP for installation.

https://www.rhodesracecars.com/search.asp?keyword=water+tanks

HHP will custom install race ice/water boxes on their inhouse builds.

Linda :)

Bigger than the opening on your half moon ice tank?

Yes. Too big to even be a option with the side mount PNR. This is what I’m using now. A custom 10 gallon tank. 0D791369-DB17-4368-BA2D-9E8072C5ACAE.jpeg

Trunk mount tanks are too far for a chiller, too much area if hoses aren’t insulated. If you’re just going for ice, they’re fine

Do you still use a chiller with this?
I run the chiller system and Ice box but my ice box is under the hood next to the Magnuson.

No. I don’t drive the car on the street anymore so this is for track use. I’m using huge 1” lines to move a lot of coolant thru the big DragPak intercooler.

Sorry but not entirely true. Previously, I ran both a FI interchiller and that side mount ice tank in the trunk. The interchiller would maintain a 40 degree temp in that ice tank when driving on the street. I was basically using it as a aux tank for the interchiller and it worked best with 2 to 3 gallons in it. I did insulate the factory hard lines on top of the motor, but not the rubber lines to the rear. While 40 degrees was not record setting low temps in the great interchiller temp wars, it was plenty cold enough to do the job. A perfect example of a car that would benefit from both are the drag and drive guys. With the factory heat exchangers removed, the interchiller is needed to keep the IC coolant temp under control on the street and the ice tank with the capacity to use ice at the track is better than the interchiller for instant cooling before a pass.
