What's interesting about the "XP" versions of the WIX filters is they "open" them up, presumably to allow for greater flow as they get older???

When I saw that, I stopped using the "XP" versions of WIX filters and went back to the normal versions.
How old do you allow them to get?

LOL, I don't, but I had allowed myself to believe that the XP version was a better filter, if you take the specs at face value, it's not "better", it's "freer flowing"...

I change all of my vehicle at 3K miles, or after a race event in the case of the Hellcat.

Without an efficiency rating, the micron spec is pretty meaningless. 99.9% @ 20 is the best I've seen. This would be something like 50% @ 5-10 microns. (Don't know where the Wix went on the graph.)

The scaling on this graph is a bit misleading...

The vertical axis being only 2%...

I use them and I keep them serviced.

Great thread and information. When I got my car they basically threw in 10 Mopar oil changes (think they were $60 each). I have one left and decided I'm doing the oil changes going forward. Went to local dealer here and they expensed my last Mopar oil change and gave me the oil and filter.

Any issues with oil cooler cover plate removal and reinstall? The tech who always did mine made it look difficult so I'm a little weary. I know brace with wrench while loosening oil cooler plug, etc.

Have a couple more months until oil change just trying to build up my reserves again after the move.

Appreciate all the info.

I only got 5 OCs with mine. The dealer would give me the oil and filters. I’d do the changes and the dealer would write it like they had done it.

If you got the access panel that a member was selling a while back it’s a piece of cake. If you are original, it’s still not hard. You’ll just have like 19 fasteners instead of 8.

There isn't enough oil to make it worth wild to take off the panel to the oil cooler. Maybe if it is warm doing the change there is some in there but cold, very little

I always drain with the oil fairly hot. I usually get several ounces (6-8?). Four 10mm bolts with a nut driver isn’t much trouble, imo.

But I agree, probably not necessary in the long run.

Same here (fairly hot). Will look at it and make my determination. My OCIs are every 3,000 - 4,000 miles so (6-8) ounces on a 7 quart sump probably doesn't make a difference? Probably do it so I can learn and use an RV mod piece to gain easy access going forward. I should have ordered one of those access doors when I had the chance.

Not filter related, but I installed Stahlbus valves, on my Cat. Not enough room, for Fumoto valves. Keeps things tidy, during drain ops.

https://www.stahlbus-us.com/oil-drain-valve/

Also, 67" RaceRamps. Never let me down:

https://www.raceramps.com/garage-service/ramps/race/p/rr-xt/

67" long. 10" high. Shallow approach angle. They also have an approach angle calculator, to find the right ramp, for you.

Not affiliated, with either.

Hmmm, well I have two Fumotos on my '16 and they fit just fine - one is shown in Post #30. Need to know the right models to use ;-)

Yeah! That looks good.

I considered that model, but went with Stahbus, instead. Ran Fumoto on my 6.1 and the wife's 5.7 Magnum, for years. Figured I'd change things up.

Thanks for sharing.
