Technically the Hellcat has been out since 2010. Just under another name. The 570x option came with 700+ horsepower. I was seriously considering one of these, but the Hellcat came out and I took that road instead. I firmly believe Dodge went Hellcat because Saleen was making a killing off these cars, and well...who wouldn't want the same thing cheaper and with a better warranty.
The biggest thing I hate about those cars.....is the way people pronounce the name.

Its Sah-Leen. NOT Say-Lean.

I would still be driving my Ford SVT Lightning. I still miss that truck even after getting a Hellcat!
I loved my Ford Lightening!!!!!
The interior was amazing and comfortable.

I think I posted in another thread about cars you regret getting rid of. #1 on my list was my 2001 L.
Loved that truck.👍

It was VERY comfortable. Regular cab worked perfectly for my wife and young son at the time. He loved the idea of sitting up front with mom & dad. 😂

I still have an 03 Lightning tucked away. 2nd owner since 04. 73k miles. I would have built the motor and thrown a Whipple on top had I not went with the HC.

We traded in a diesel Ford pick up that sounded like a train was coming.

Kate my youngest ( the one who also drag races ) was only around 6 at the time.
I was driving it home that night and I floored it........so much fun.......Kate is giggling and yelling Weeeeeee and then she said Do That Thing again! Of course I accommodated. She would ask me every time we were together in the truck.
I think Kate was a natural born Go fast Girl! It was a fun truck!

Oh and BTW she was with me the night I drove my Hellcat home annd of course I floored the memories were brought back listening to Kate giggling away!

Linda :)

Without the Hellcat I would probably have the T/A as well - a close second to the Hellcat in looks. (Of course an AAR Cuda has always been the ultimate for me).

I think it is easier to say what I wouldn't be driving versus what I would be driving. Basically if it has cylinder deactivation or active fuel management or direct injection I want nothing to do with it. If I cannot fit the kids it isn't an option either (no Viper or Vette). Over $100K? Pass, diminishing returns (can't get a nice 70s/80s 911 for that coin). High powered SUV? Pass, have one. More old cars I need to restore? Pass, so much ass pain. No Fords, period. Pre-2015 Challengers are hideous.

It would have to have a manual transmission, two doors, V8, handles well, and fit the family. What fits those criteria? A 99-02 Z28 Camaro? An 05-06 GTO?

Yeah, I'd probably just have kept pouring big bucks into my MCSS and wagon... and bought my wife her 91-92 Z28.

I’d probably not be in the 2012 F150 Harley truck I traded in... but it would probably be either a different truck or an M5/4drAMG of some sort. I need the backseat.

@1971demon - I heard a carrier full of C8s came into WNY, owners were called, and then a couple of the cars were given to someone else. These were ordered cars with buyers, but apparently Chevy donated 2 cars to the guy who spent $2M at a charity auction... hopefully neither of those cars had your name on it.

No I got lucky....a friend of mine was tracking the transport since 6am Tuesday..(don't ask me how..I got a flip phone).he told me the eta @ Basil Chevrolet was to be approx...1:37 pm...took a stroll over..there was the transport..filled with wrapped corvettes...they dropped off one..mine...they thought they were to get three...they got one..it went into pre delivery inspection this morning..they also had to dealer install the red engine cover..and swap out the wheels...I ordered the optional black wheels..it ships with the standard silver wheels (have no idea why) but that's the deal with all of them..i also get to keep both sets..nobody there could tell me if the wheels were there or not...its not too far from you Basil on transit in Lancaster...go over and take it for a spin..i'm gonna be outta town so my wife has to pick it up Fri or Sat...she gets to do the fun stuff...I just got to look at it..and sign the check...

I wouldve been super happy with the 392. I actually had a 2015 SRT and loved it. My Hellcat is just excessive. Bragging rights car really. I love it too.

If she needs a hand doing the car shuffle, I may have some time to lend a hand. I imagine Basil could send a car to your house to get her, so maybe that isn’t a PITA for you guys. You’re right though, it’s 5 min down the road.

What if in 2015...(can you believe its 5 years)...There was no Hellcat...no HC Challenger..no HC Charger..no Demon..no Red Eyes...nothin..just the 392 in various offerings...What would you be driving today..Ford..Chevy..restored old iron ???...If FCA never gave us the mopars we covet today..how many would be satisfied with the 392...or anything else...or how many of us would just take up golf?
Realistically, probably the exact same vehicles I have now except the SC GTO would be getting a work out. Maybe, I hate to say it, a hopped up Mustang convertible? No telling.
