I’m with Eric. I had one and drove it about 65,000 miles, it’s now in Scottsdale enjoying life and still don’t tick. And yes, I have heard three Hellcat engines now and none tick at all.

Now that 5.7 in the Jeep is a ticker about every time. Nearly scary ticks.
This one ticked like a mofo and lasted for about 30 seconds. Scary.

If it sat for 2-3 weeks and did it then stopped, don’t worry about it. It’s normal to do that occasionally. A lifter (or more) will “leak down” and you’ll get some clattering for just a bit until they all pump back up.

When I first shared this option on the old forum with a new guy, he thought I was trying to get him to blow up his motor. He said all kinds of bad things about me and my motivations.

Then I showed him a picture of the process from our manual and he couldn't apologize enough for doubting me...
LOL.... you're a tricky devil, you know

Yeah it's probably something to do with the MDS lifters in the 392's if the Hellcats don't experience this much if at all. They hold more oil or somehow work off oil pressure differently than the others. Only half the lifters are MDS, and half are regular lifters as it's always the same 4 cylinders that can shut down.

My Charger R/T does that on occasion. Especially if not driven for awhile. Or whenever it feels like it. I have found that if it starts to do it regularly if I change the oil it goes away. Note I likely change my oil more often than most so extended oil changes are not the cause of this.

Less than 1500 miles. Oil change at 1,000 miles.

Just started the Challenger Scat Pack and it sounded like a lifter had bled down. Took about 20-30 seconds to go away.

Anyone experience this?
YES. My Durango SRT has done it a couple times after extended sits. The first time scared the crap out of me - the ticking was very loud and lasted for what seemed like a minute! I have since tried to at least start it up for a minute at least once a week if not driven, and it has only done it one other time and lasted for only 10 seconds or so.
