Just to confirm your post, you do not like the stock subwoofers in the trunk (under the trunk mat) and want to disconnect them?

It is never advisable to run an amp, without a load on it. That being said, people remove their subwoofer boxes all the time, for weight reduction, with no reported adverse consequences (so far).

Not sure which system you have... HK, or Alpine. Either way, the worst that can happen is that damage to those specific channels could occur. In the HK, that would be 3 separate bass channels, on the Alpine Premium 2 package, it would be one channel.

Hope this helps.

I have the HK system, my thoughts were to just unplug which I did....then listened to the radio in the car and
it seems it lost some power, so I thought there must be a power booster for the sub and the rest of the system???
So my thoughts are to just unhook the two speakers but keep it plugged in to continue to boost the rest of the system???

I replaced mine with this and it sounds like a washing machine. CCDF4A73-A704-4674-A06F-23ABD2D0EF70.jpeg

The HK cabin amp has 3 dedicated channels, to the subwoofer box. There is no other amplification, to the subs. Each channel puts out about 75 watts RMS.

You notice a diminished output, because you removed two speakers, from the mix. They are not subwoofers, but woofers (think large mid range).

HK has the system wired so each voice coil gets 75 watts, so it's like losing 3 speakers (I dont understand why they didn't power all 4 voice coils).

If you like the sound better, without the bass, leave it be. No harm, no foul :)

Hope this helps.

I personally still use front fender compartments for my shine and other 'band.
