I should still have that magazine somewhere. LOL
Ronnie Sox drove 1 for a road test and ran 12's with it.
I believe they tuned that one though and didn't even use a laptop.

Yes you are correct. I have that article. All they did was "tweak" the carbs and distributor and put the master of the manual transmission behind the wheel .
The only magazine advertisement for the 440-6 Road Runner in 1969. However, the magazine road tests reported that Sox ran a 12.91@111 mph on G70x15 Goodyear Polyglas Redlines (fiberglass belted tires). It was a 4 speed and supposedly all stock. I can tell you with no reservation after owning and running these cars from 1972-2015 that no factory stock 440-6 RR or Bee would ever go 111 mph in the 1/4! However, kicking in the 3x2’s would definitely set you back in the seat and result in lighting up the tires at speeds below 15 mph.
A friend of mine has one of these tucked away in his garage with a leaky gas tank and a bent pushrod, it's in all original condition and so cool. Red 4-speed car. He inherited it from his dad. Hoping to get it back on the road next year.
