Recommendations for warranty work in Phoenix

Dealer had a look at it today before doing the V86 recall. They didn't know anything about the S/C failures, I gave them the star case number and they said something to the extent of "your vin didn't pull anything up regarding that star case". Not sure what that means.

Got the car home today and grabbed a mirror to look at the plaque on the back of the supercharger. Mine ends in AF.

The noise has not really gotten any worse, yet. My dealer doesn't seem to be fighting me, they just seem ignorant to the process. They offered to look at it with me there so I could show them the noise I am concerned about but my car only sounds noticeably bad on a cold start, so I'd have to drop it off and then show up in the morning and be there for the first crank. I'll probably pursue that option.

What happens if I get it documented that I have concerns about it, while the car is under warranty, and then it fails a year from now out of warranty? Do I eat that cost?

Open a case, with them. They can help you and the dealer navigate this.

The Star Case is just a point if reference, to show that FCA has acknowledged this issue. It is not a recall, or TSB.

My limited understanding of warranty law says that if it's in process before the warranty ends, then it must be covered. I think the variable here is that just because you "mention" it, doesn't mean that it's being worked on...

AeroF16, have any video of your SC?
See page 1 of this thread. The cold start video is the first one posted and that's where I really notice the sound.

Once the engine is warm, it's not as bad and that's the second video.

My apologies...got them now. Haven't listened to mine cold for a while, but the warm sound is like mine. Will listen to mine cold more closely for comparison.

I took a video once I got to work this morning, with the engine warm, and then on shutdown. I'll upload them when I get home this evening but the shutdown video sounds identical to @Diboblo 's video to me.

Yeah...I hear the bearing noise. Mine has gotten louder since new as well, but mine doesn't have that bearing whine. Yours is more pronounced IMHO.

The noise doesn't necessarily bother me, I expect they all make some noise after a bit of use, just want to make sure I don't end up with a failed supercharger the day after my car is out of warranty haha.

So is there another course of action? Should I try contacting SRT?

Wish I could help you..IMO if you have a dealer that is willing to help/work with you I would pursue that route since you still have a little warranty left.

To me your car does not sound abnormal really...but I've never been around one with a bad blower to hear. These cars are kind of noisy anyway so it's hard to tell sometimes.

I agree, it doesn't sound terrible to me but it did have an audible change on cold start one morning, enough to where I started my car and thought "what is that?". Now, I cannot un-hear it! When I listen to the comparison videos though, it seems clear to me that mine is probably starting to go bad.

Just looking for some reassurance either way. Maybe Dodge knows that 95% of the blowers with the AF part number had bad bearings or maybe not a single one of the bad blowers was an AF part number. Maybe they can tell me which dealer in the city to actually take it to, someone well versed in the issue.

I actually hope it's not an issue because my car runs and drives great as is!
