170 has smaller calipers / rotors for weight reduction and what I guess are a standard pad vs the road course oriented pad on the Hellcat. I get zero dust on my wheels on the 170. Brake performance has been great, even hauling it down at almost 150MPH at the end of the 1/4 mile.

What’s different about the 170 pads? Powerstops definitely don’t stop as good as the stock ones
Good question/observation.

It doesn't make any sense whatsoever that the highest performance model comes with "smaller standard" brakes but performs just as well and doesn't leave any dust.

I personally know a 170 owner, I'll ask him about it directly. I'll let you know what he says ...

You dont trust my real world experience? I posted pics of the brake setup in my 170 thread, they're 4 piston.

Front wheels are also 18x7 so they needed smaller brakes to clear those as well. The 170 and OG Demon were built for the drag strip, you don't need big 6 piston brakes for that. Hellcat and Redeye were built for road course (surprisingly) so they got 6 piston brakes and aggressive pads to handle that type of work.

From what I found the 4 piston are not much different then the 6 piston for weight.

It's rotor and caliper I think? Do you have numbers to compare?

I know it's cumulative, but my 170 is like 300lbs lighter than my Hellcat was, even with the rear seat delete.

Just signed up for a November tour of the Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green, KY. Should be cool to see them being made.

Not off hand but was looking into it one time and sounded like there wasn't much weight difference which I thought was odd. You can run a 17" wheel which the 4 piston so there is that

Okay. Those pads on the 170 are Non-asbestos Organic NAO ceramic. Our other Hellcat’s are semi-metallic. Thus Speedy reports hardly any dust. Thanks for the feedback, those seem to be some special units @Speedy!.
