I lived through several cat 5 hurricanes. Will not repeat. It's not just the physical damage that's bad--it's how people behave during the events that's actually the most troubling. Really brings out the worst in some people.

Anything east of the Rockies seems questionable. It's only a matter of how bad it is.
I have always been very uneasy about the Pacific states and the NE states.

True. We've had very little rain this spring, and it's been quite hot lately- close to 80.

But at least the humidity is low and there are no alligators, pythons, etc. Not even rattle snakes.
Your weather has been similar to ours, maybe we have been a little warmer, but low humidity. No Alligators, or pythons, but I did have a Coral or King snake in the driveway, didn't stick around to find out, the Coral snake is poisonous.

There is a chance of severe weather no matter where you live! We moved to Florida 5 years ago with no regrets. I never thought I’d want to live this far South but it’s fine. It’s more about the activities and social life rather than the weather for us.

We moved to Florida, about 19 years ago. The year round activities are great, no hibernation for months, during the winter. We feel very lucky to be in Florida, much cheaper living and a more agreeable lifestyle. Thinking about moving farther south, when we have to slow down, the cool winters, are a bit much.

I'm
The Wizard of Oz movie centered around a tornado, not a hurricane. When a tornado strikes, you may have seconds to seek shelter or flee, with a hurricane, much longer, possibly days. I know, I have seen both. Neither scenario is good, but survival is better, in a hurricane, with the advanced warning. That being said, I hope to never see a tornado or hurricane, again...
I'm just as old as you are...never seen a hurricane ..or tornado...never lost EVERYTHING I have to either...(never even made a weather related ins. claim on house or car...WNY weather is FAR... FAR less dangerous than Fla. weather...then there is the oppressive summer heat....yeah I know ya got air conditioning...(even that makes you a prisoner in your own home...) @ least in the cold of the north...we can layer up clothes and still enjoy the cold... Fla. has 2 seasons..hot...and HOTTER..the change in seasons in the North is actually enjoyable...not sure I wanna see the sun EVERYDAY...like everything else..it has to get boring...

Tell me that...when the big one hits YOU..and yer house is 500ft in the air..on it's way to the land of OZ....
Actually, it would take a nuke to blast my house in the air! I have a stem wall built home with block walls & a poured concrete lintel and columns that are rebar reinforced. I also live 30 miles inland from the coast.

The devastation you see post hurricane is typically ppl living on or close to the coast (just asking for trouble in any state) and/or in poorly built homes.

I agree. Left SoCal because of the heat, near constant threat of wildfires, and the looming big earthquake. Plus reasons that weren't weather related, of course.

There is a chance of severe weather no matter where you live! .
That is true, but the chances of severe weather can vary greatly from location to location. This particular area of the Rockies seems quite benign. Yes, there are wildfires, usually started by campers, but they're nothing like the ones in California.

If anything, I'm a bit concerned about lightning, which is common this time of year, but it's easy enough not to work on fences or sit on a backhoe during thunderstorms. With those two things being the two potential dangers (that I know of), I'm not worried about the weather.

Of course, I'm far more likely to hit an elk here than I would be in Florida. But that's not really weather related, other than in the sense that even elk knows not to live there.

Every state is fucked....or will be soon enough. The liberal fucktards are moving to places to change the electoral votes. Enjoy what ya have, now. Older people people won't see the complete demise of America.....unless someone nukes us. But, it is coming.

Boring, no, just the opposite, we have year round activities. The Redeye gets exercise about every week, cruise-ins, etc. Also, never had a weather related insurance claim, in my life. Regarding the heat, July/August is very warm, but we are use to it. I mow the yard year round, usually weekly in the summer and I'm not young.

When we moved to FL, it took a year or two, to fully acclimate, as I moved from Ohio. Also, we have some seasonal changes and it's beautiful, as we have a forest behind us. The warmth actually helps these old bones, as we had a cold winter, I was really looking forward to the warm weather. Most of our family is now in FL, from OH and everyone plans to stay.

Bottom line, enjoy where you live, if not, move. Life is very enjoyable, here in Florida, as our quality of life has improved.
