I have a 2019 REWB (4,400 mi) and periodically I get the intercooler low warning after romping on the car and backing off. This began happening after I had the AC serviced by a local, trusted mechanic (not a dealer), but I think that this is just concidental. The coolant level is ok and the "check diagnostic code" shows ok or no codes. Driving around today and getting on the car a little bit, IC coolant temp rose to 130 after about 30 minutes on a 70 degree day here in Phoenix.

I have tried bleeding the air from the system using the "pinch the hose" technique and this seemed to worked for a while. However the problem soon returned. To make things worse, the first few times I tried this, I could see fluid pumping through the overflow tank. Now however, I don't see fluid flow and can't hear the pump running. I've checked the fuse and it is ok so I am thinking that somehow I burned up the pump.

I talked to the dealer today about getting it in but am really hesitant to bring it to them. They said that they would probably need the car overnight and would store it overnight on the back lot. So I am thinking about doing the job myself. I am also thinking about upgrading the pump with an aftermarket one if that is possible. Anyway if you folks have any tips, tricks, advice, etc. that might help, I would really appreciate any information that you might have. Thanks

Let the dealer do it. Make sure they have the pump on hand before you drop it off. Shouldn't take more than a few hours and you don't have to leave it overnight. I wouldn't do that.

Thanks, that's what I will probably do.

Yeah, I agree. A friend of mine left his Lexus suv at a dealership near this Dodge dealer and it was stolen off the lot. If that's not bad enough, took them a couple of days to admit they no longer had the Lexus

Can you hear the pump run if you just key on and don’t start the vehicle? It should run for about 15 to 30 seconds. When you had your car worked on was the coolant drained from the intercooler loop?

I've tried to listen for the pump but don't hear anything, my hearing isn't what it was, but during that 15 to 30, I don't see any fluid motion in the fill tank. As for the coolant being drained from the intercooler loop, I am not aware that they touched the intercooler at all. The service was to fill the freon and check for freon leaks. Thanks for the help

The pump runs at a reduced speed at idle and on Keon. It’s very faint sound and not enough volume to see any motion through the tank unless you pinched the main line and forced the flow through the tank. Did you try and see if there’s an air pocket caught up in the manifold on the back of the supercharger? There’s a bleeder valve on the top when the car is running open the bleeder valve a bit (7mm socket) and see if fluid is pushed out or not. You’ll then know if it’s under pressure or not (from flow) and if any air is caught there, it will be expelled.

Do you have a vac tool? I’ve had to put that on to get bubbles out before.

If your pump was bad I’d expect a code

Hey all, Dealer said that the pump is running and the system needs a drain and vacuum refill. Car is in the shop tonight, so I don't mind leaving it there. Man I worry about this car. Don't park it anywhere don't trust dealers etc. If it wasn't for the thrill of putting the pedal to the metal I'd sell the damn car.

Thanks everyone for your help with the

You need to vacuum fill the system if there's air trapped. The pump senses "low coolant", there is no low coolant sensor

I resolved the ic low coolant item with the Hellcat Burnbox, and put the car on battery tender, accessories on and le the pump cycle on and off while I continued to fill coolant into the overflow reservoir in the engine bay....used a bowl on top of the valve covers to catch spillage from the hose

Never had an issue since then

In having some odd issues where it's low, I open the cap, and then it overflows

Thanks again for the replies. Dealership did the vacuum fill and said the problem didn’t repeat. I drove the car home and got the IC level low message. Fairly normal driving and IC temp went to 140 after about 10 miles of stop and go on a 45 degree morning. Still think the pump is bad. Would any of you recommend an aftermarket pump or the stock one?

Only factory unless you're tuned. If you switch to an aftermarket pump you have to turn off the CEL since the original pump is removed. Or you leave the stock pump inline and run the aftermarket pump in conjunction. Just stick with stock, they're expensive

Stick with the stock pump. They're expensive like 2000 but they're pretty reliable till they get old. Cost of having a hellcat. Every pump eventually fails when you drive it. 🚗
