My new Blackbird adjustable tensioner arrived yesterday. I should be OK now thanks. All my parts are here now and I am just waiting for the next opening at my local hot rod shop to get everything installed with Jon Moore's stage 2 tune. I'm not missing anything with this terrible weather in the Detroit metro area anyway. And Milan Dragway is not open yet from doing their complete rebuild. Its going to be a beautiful facility when its done in a few weeks.
<minor thread hijack, but belt-related>
Did you install the Blackbird tensioner yet?
If not, before you do, after you pull the stock one, set them both side-by-side on a flat surface with their locating pins hanging off the edge--then rotate them until their pulleys touch, with their backs still nice and flat on the surface. Now look at them straight-on edge-wise and tell me if the grooves on your Blackbird line up with the grooves on your stock pulley.
I have one sitting here and it's off by about 25-33% of the groove width. Clear as day the grooves do not line up. I don't dare mount it and run it--I think that would be asking for major belt dust and wear. Additionally, the Blackbird pulley has 6303 bearings with full contact seals--bigger bearings == /slower/--these are only rated to 11k RPM, and with full contact seals are going to get /really/ hot. I bet they don't last 5k miles. I have a TBA pulley here that had 6203 (smaller) bearings rated to 12k with less than 5k miles on them and they are just cooked.
Contrast to the Litens tensioner I have--the grooves line up perfectly with the stock--so I'm leaning towards thinking that the one out of alignment is the Blackbird unit.
