Well...we hit our 1st national level event of the year...Sick Summer just wrapped up on Friday after a rain shortened week.
After day 2 there were 2 perfect 000 spreads, a 001, 002 and 003...then 3 of us tied for 6th at 005.
We lost day 3 at tri-state due to rain and picked up a Driveline vibration we couldn't isolate. More on that in a sec.
Day 1 went 10.104, day 2 10.109...then lost day 3...day 4 at GLD got me good. First pass we blew the tires off so we cut the launch to 1300 and swapped to the new 2.60 pulley. Figured I'd blow the tires off again. Nope. Dead hooked and went 10.078. Too fast but no choice to turn it in. Setting my spread at .031 and effectively taking me off the podium.
Day 5 the car was back to normal at byron...going 10.112 - if we cut out GLD my spread would've been 008 - final spread set at .034 and placed 6th out of around 100 cars!
We fought the exhaust all week. Clamps and braces plumb wore out or missing altogether kept me on my toes all week.
So. That Driveline vibration? We found it outside of South Bend while doing a highway hit alongside a Tahoe that was being a douchecanoe...
Outer CV immediately exited the chat. Driver's side axle. Never found any of the balls and you can see the twist in the diff splines.
The D&D community came in clutch...Allan got us to a safe spot with his tilt deck, offered up tools and got us to a hotel for a night. Jeff got me a parts store axle on the corporate account which saved almost 30%. Rental car, hotel, consumables, axle and tip was 700 all in and 18hr delay.
So...which axles are the best for our cars? Cause the passenger side is also on the way out...
