There is one RPM for me that has bad drone.

The easy answer is to not drive that gear/speed.

Yes, and it's really bad at that perfect RPM, it actually hurts my ears, and I'm hard of hearing.

The only answer for the drone for me was the Corsa catback...not cheap but I love driving up hills again :)

Could be your car is a manual and you were at a higher rpm then where an automatic would be

I've never experienced any drone in my car. Stock exhaust. Around town or on road trips.

It's at its worst during a Cold-start while in the garage and the RPM is slowly decreasing under no load.

That's when it will actually hurt my ears.

That being said there are certain gears/speeds out on the road where the harmonic (drone) will be just right and be only just noticeable and slightly annoying. But it takes the slightest change in throttle to move out of it and everything is fine.
