They include cabling in that stat I'm sure, but it might be legit. How much should we trust a webpage called copper.org?

Offshore wind installation uses 21,068 lbs. of copper per MW. The cabling of the offshore wind farms accounts for the bulk of the copper usage.

The libs have no clue as to the cost or long term effects of “clean” energy. This expert (link below) says the cost of a wind turbine is about the same as digging an oil well but they only have a 20 year life and they are built with enormous amounts of plastics, metals and concrete. It is anticipated that many mines will be built in remote undisturbed pristine regions.

They are counting the wiring in the turbine itself all of the cables connecting the turbine to the Transformer Farm the windings in the Transformer farm and all of the cable connecting all of these to the grid. While I understand their point basically any generation point is going to use a similar level of copper it's just the nature of the Beast. Should we be aware of it and think about it, sure. We need to be informed as a society so that we can make sure we are aware of the costs the way we're living and consciously except them or can make rational decisions about how better to produce energy or use it or what have you.

We have huge numbers of wind farms out here along with massive oil recovery ops.

Wind turbines rock. Extremely reliable and great generation capacity. Considered a set of commercial small turbines for.my business a few years back even. At that.time did not.make sense financially. In Europe there are small consortiums selling ownership of individual turbines to neighborhood groups, businesses, etc... ive.lookwd at that.model but dont think US ready for that model yet, but think it is viable given the nature of, for example, texas' shit show of an independent power grid.

I wonder what the real cost of building and maintaining those wind generators? Do they lease the land with payments forever? We have an abundance of natural gas. Natural gas turbines are very clean and efficient and generate a lot more electricity per dollar spent than the wind generators…without ruining the countryside with a gazillion propellers. I heard the propeller blades are also made in China and shipped here cheaper than we can make them?
