I might be done with car dealers for the first time in my adult life. I'm one of those guys who buys or leases a new car every couple of years minimum between my need for a new toy and daily drivers for my wife and I. I've gotten to the point I just can't put up with the dealer BS. My most recent Hellcat purchase was via private party and it was great. No silly fees or attempts to upsell just the agreed upon price, hand him a cashiers check, and get the keys and title to my car and I was on my way. With this whole COVID situation my wife has been told she is working from home indefinitely so her commuting will be reduced by 90 percent which means the new Toyota Camry we bought for her a year ago will last forever. I also have a Boss 302 that I plan on keeping long term. I do have a lease on an Explorer but as soon as that's up I'll be turning it in and finding a beater pickup from a private party to drive around town in the winter. I hope I can stick to my guns and stay out of car dealerships for a long time although a Hellcat Durango will be tempting:censored:

I agree. Too many uploaded fees. Like paying a cable bill.

On top of, most are damn thieves. You trade in a car and they try to take the trade in value off the MSRP. instead of the negotiated price. I hope I am done with them as well!

I'm done buying new cars. Even if you get a great deal up front, you still take a hit if you trade in a year or two later. It's going to be lease returns for me from now on. I just bought a car that was a 3 year lease return. All maintenance done at the dealer, and a clean warranty work history. The car was obviously owned by an older couple and looks practically brand new. The place I bought it from was very upfront, worked with me on my trade, did everything they said they were going to do, and followed through just like they said. No games. No back and forth. As of now, when I am ready for my next car, I will check there first.

Ive never had that type of dealer experience. I do all of my deals online or on the phone. Weed out the BS that way. Any upsell or fishy talk and i waste zero time and move on. It’s all done before i ever go there. After that I walk in, pay, sign, some small talk and leave. There’s no way im walking in cold and negotiating lol.

Only if you let them. You tell them about the trade after you negotiate the price. Yeah they‘ll hit you low but you negotiate the trade too. They’ll push you around but only if you allow it.

You're just using the wrong dealer(s), that's all.
I order mine from a great little dealership in Utah, which you may be closer to than I am.

Now that I stopped and thought about it, in the past 18 months or so we've also bought (ordered) a 911 Turbo S, a Redeye, and a Trackhawk from three different dealerships in Colorado Springs.
No problems whatsoever, all over the phone and emails, and all three with substantial savings from MSRP.

Maybe you need to hone your buying skills?

Lol I’m pretty good at buying cars lots of practice. I’m able to negotiate great deals just don’t like most dealerships business model. It’s funny I live north but have bought several cars in the Springs. Seems like there is less bs and a lot of competition.

interested to see the new turbo s let me know how you like it and pics too, just went from a 720 to a 488 pista and now pops wants to go to a more comfortable ride until he can afford to go after a 918 or senna. I'm just glad to be able to drive all of these cars in my lifetime lol.

Funny thing is, the CS dealers claim that all the competition/market is in Denver.
But do try Classic Motors (Richfield, UT) for your next painless ordering/buying process.

FL is one of the worst places to buy a car ever. There is the usual 'boning' you on your trade right out of the gate.

Then they ALL add a 'dealer fee' that ranges from $700 - $1100 and claim it's to prep the car (even tho the manf. pays them for that).
Next there are a whole array of 'doc' fees. I can remember when this shit was like $89 and it pissed me off then. Now most have at least 2 or 3 of these doc/title/plate fees.
The biggest gouge are the places charging $250 to file a digital title (for you convenience) which is way easier to do (it's all on-line) and no additional cost from the State.

Most of them have a 'bump sticker' of $1000+ for useless add-ons or 'services' they provide (lifetime oil changes, tire rotations, VIN etching, crap wax etc.).

But wait - there's more ...................
Then the finance guy will try to take you on the financing (unless you plan to pay cash or came in preapproved) and they will bone you for the full MSRP if you want the OEM extended warranty (thank you ST of FL politicians for selling out to the dealers assoc. and making that a law!).
Of course, he will also try to get you to buy a bunch of other worthless crap (paint treatments you never heard of, wheel Ins., maint. pkgs etc.).

Net: you need to start lubing up days in advance of visiting a FL dealer to buy a new or used car !

Also, NEVER EVER even hint you are paying cash or are preapproved for a loan until the deal is done & you are in the finance guy's office. If they even get a wiff you are not financing thru them or can plunk down a large down pymt, they will pretty much not negotiate with you on OTD price.

Far from a good photo, but the first one I came across. Like the other vehicles in it, the 911 is my girlfriend's (the Redeye is obviously camera shy and missing).

Naturally she does like it, and she liked her "old" one, too. But Ironically, the lowly Cayman is still her favorite.
Although the latest purchase, the Trackhawk, is gaining on it big time.
I thought she'd regret trading in the Macan Turbo, but she really likes the 'Hawk.

Weird, ive not experienced this. No boning allowed. They bone, I take a road trip and buy somewhere else. They lose the sale.
Not dealing with boneheads.

Not truer words spoken! I'm so lucky to have had a buddy recommend a Dodge Dealer 1.5hrs. away and unlike any I've ever been to. So much so we've bought 3 vehicles there in last 2 years. Diamond in the rough. Glad we are an FCA family. 1 less thing to worry about. If your near Illinois I'll give you their info. (y)
