Wrong on being illegal everywhere.... From Dodges point of view being under the federal government the beadlocks would not work due to NTHSA requirements but once it gets to the dealers then to the customer that means dick now!

If I bought a Demon 170 and put beadlocks on it and drove on the street its not illegal at all! For something to be "Illegal" for state use there has to be a state statute to back it up.

State and local Police are the ones writing tickets for MV violations NOT Federal employees. In fact, FEDERAL employess have NO authority to write any MV violation tickets covered by any STATE laws.

Motor Vehicle statutes are covered by Motor Vehicle laws in EVERY STATE. So if u were a Police Officer and u stopped a car with Beadlocks what statute are u going to use to write someone a ticket? Ur not! Cause Beadlock statutes dont exist ANYWHERE in ANY STATE.

Provide me a statue for ANY state that prohibits Beadlcoks?

NO beadlocks are street legal. None.

Interesting video Demonology posted on tire spin. Says its spinning 12-16 inches. Car needs beadlocks I find it hard to believe Dodge didnt notice the bad tire spin when testing.

I m surprised with all the snot they put on the rims / tires

Legal analysis of beadlocks on public roads:
https://www.liftlaws.com/are_beadlocks_street_legal.htm

They’re not street legal anywhere
Wrong

For liability reasons, wheel manufacturers do not sell wheels intended for use on public roads and highways that are not SAE J2530 compliant (even if they may be DOT compliant).
7)
Beadlock manufacturers sell their non-compliant wheels as "For Off-Road Use Only" or "Not Legal for Highway Use" and in some cases they even mark their product as such.

So, the OE will not use non SAE J2530 wheels on a production car.

I’m probably should have clarified what I meant by street legal. I didn’t mean like you’d get a ticket or car impounded over it.

That's not what you inferred to me.

As a side note: My son has a TRX. It has beadlock looking wheels on it from the factory. The verbiage describing them was something like "beadlock capable". I've always wondered what that means...

I am not a fan of beadlocks….. I think a little tire slip is OK because it takes a percentage of the shock off the driveline and I couldn’t say how much lost ET you get but I doubt it’s much. The other issue that no one seems to talk about is putting the tires out of balance after a couple passes. An easy fix is have the tires bead balanced, that way it doesn’t matter how much the tire moves on the rim.
