Since purchasing "The Ghost" I have found that there is nothing that it does better than create break dust! Following the recommendations of several HC owners, I replaced the pads with PowerStop Z23s this past weekend. For the past few days I have been pushing her hard to see what kind of dust we can make with them and how they stand up to the hard work. I have noticed some loss of performance after 30 minutes of pretty hard stops but not too bad for those that are not track racing. The big news for me was a decrease in break dust by at least 90%!

Now I need to replace the rear tires with 305/35R20 Nitto NT555s and I am all set.

So it's obvious that I can't spell. BRAKES not breaks! I guess I need to step away from my desk and take a lunch break.

Glad to hear this, where did you purchase the pads from?

Sound interesting. Never tried the PowerStop Z23s. Are they ceramics or semi metallics?

I went with EBC "Red Stuff" pads.. way less dust, and the same braking performance.. happy with them so far..

Yup, Z23’s for me as well. Easy swap and minimal dust. Not much sacrifice in performance either.

Love my Z26 pads.

Z23 & Z26 same compound, different shim material. Z26, steel shims. Z23 plastic shims.

I don't track my car, bit it's a daily driver and they hold up just fine, for the occasional spirited driving and unexpected hard braking, in SoCal traffic.

i did the z26 on my charger after watching the video by SRTMUSH. Got them from Summitt Racing.
He did it in his driveway on his knees.
Good video to watch.
to add my 2 cents to the video is to use a screw driver to spread open the pads before removing them so the new pads go in easier.
Much less dusting after doing this. You won't go wrong.

I know this a old thread but another great solution is having your wheels ceramic coated. I had it done on my 16 cat you can spray all the dust off with a garden hose and it looks like you scrubbed and washed your wheels. I used cquartz I will be getting it done on my Redeye just have not got to it.

Personally, I thought you were going to comment on the cleanliness of the brake room.

No kidding. They talked about brakes in 2017!

Well I am also a Z26 fan. No way those chrome wheels would like about any dust at all. My RE has used those pads since the first mile I drove it. That was one of the mandatory mods it received before it hit the road along with wrap and flaps.

Will ceramic coat on 2017 black 5 spoke wheels change the sheen?

Not really. Anything that's matte, or close to it, will be a bit darker with ceramic applied, but it doesn't get "shiny" by any means.

What @landoawd said, but as an alternative, you can apply ceramic made specifically for matte/satin finishes (i.e. Gyeon Q2 Matte)

I’m actually thinking about switching back to the stock Brembo pads. The Z26, even after proper bedding, just don’t have the same bite. I did some spirited driving yesterday and hauled her down from speeds not much more than 100 and the brakes started to fade a bit and stunk to high heaven. I have my wheels ceramic coated and might just put up with the dust to get the better performance of the Brembos.
