Ok,
I have been talking about intake temps , heat soak and all that with little response. It's fine I'm just gonna leave my findings so far.
Today I picked up a AFE Momentum GT Sealed CAI for the Durango.

It was easy to install, and removing the factory box took all about 35 seconds. Install I took my time, wiped down the area where the intake was going in and it still only took me about 20 minutes or so.

So 3 things happened. Lower intake temps, slower heat soak and added a sprinkle of HP.
1 - Average intake temps dropped by a few degrees on average. Probably like 7 to 10 degree average.
2 - Heat soak at a red light is slower than stock. Stock it would just right up well over 100-135 easy and with then AFE it gets to 99-104 and then when you move it goes down faster than stock did.
Not a huge amount of difference but enough to make me happier.
3 - More HP. I didn't Dyno it or anything just did a few pulls before I put the AFE in and then a few after and got an average which basically stayed the same each time so there's that.
I gained 6 HP, not 31 HP like AFE Claims which I knew it wasn't even going to come close to that but I'll take 6 HP over stock.
How I figured that out was comparing points on the RPM range. At 6200 RPM to be exact. I took pictures of videos I filmed at the highest HP numbers and compared. I'll post them here.

Always wondered what gives when there's no (at least not obvious to me) give between the engine and a fixed air box.

Is the filter box floating to some extent?
