2nd Gen Ford Raptor Thoughts

So I know we're a Hellcat Forum, but part of me is considering a new Raptor to replace the Power Wagon in the near future. I don't need a 3/4 ton truck, and the thought of something that rides nicer than my truck (the Power Wagon rides pretty damn nice for a 3/4 ton truck) that is also a little more zippy is kind of interesting. While I wait for Ram to show us the TRX Rebel, I'm wondering who owns a new 2nd Gen Raptor with the Ecopoop or has spent some time around them and can give me their thoughts?

I have owned way too many trucks and the new 18 Model Ford Raptor is my all time favorite truck ever. To the point I had a lease on my first one and turned it in early and so regretted it. And 6 months later I picked up a used one to replace it. I love the V6 Twin Turbo it is super fast and fun IMO which sure the V8 model would be bad ass as well but I look at it like the Scat Pak fun to the HC fun. Both are just so much fun and the used market for the really low mile Raptors are happening right now. It’s truly my favorite vehicle to drive around in and have to resist from driving all the time since I don’t want to rack up a bunch of miles. I put 9000 miles on my first one in 4 months and parked her since I got a really bad ticket. And she pulls better than my brand new Ram1500 Limited. She has a wider foot print which just makes the ride so stable and no jerking around or pushing pulling feeling. And yes your maxed Out at 7k but weight to weight trailer pulling the Ram does not pull as well. The ride is so awesome I truly sold my full size Range Rover feeling what a waste of money for a status car that doesn’t ride as nice as my Raptor and or as fun. Here’s some pics and you wont regret and for those V6 bashers she’s damn powerful and fast and fun. To the point I got a reckless driving ticket in mine 2 years ago she just hauls ass down the road like nothing and the high speeds she just accelerates to what gets you into trouble.

@ChargerChallenger I’m glad you chimed in. Is the Raptor still governed at 100mph? I thought with your ticket in the truck you might know.

I am aware of the 100 mph governor which was on the previous model and yes I have been over 100 on mine. Here’s a video which I have gotten mine up to 120.

Great thread. My wife and I have been researching trucks just the past few days and this helps. @ChargerChallenger you have just about every damn truck ever built I should come test drive over at your lot.

Another thing to think about as well is the resale value of the Raptors presently is excellent. If you pick up a nice used one like I just did their is really good chance if you sell her a year or two later you won't take much of a hit. Point being if the TRX comes out later next year and its totally just bad ass you could probably sell your used Raptor and not take a big hit and or sit it out a year on the TRX and get a possible deal as well.

I am aware of the 100 mph governor which was on the previous model and yes I have been over 100 on mine. Here’s a video which I have gotten mine up to 120.

Funny how 120mph in the Raptor is moving but in the Hellcat you’re just getting started. Thanks for the video.

Well because I was bored and the Ford Dealership is open on Sunday, I figured I’d go drive a 2020 Raptor with the EcoPoop V6. From the outside the truck is really good looking. Once inside the seats were comfortable, but I didn’t love how my left leg sat up against the drivers door arm rest. The truck had good power leaving the dealership, but once it downshifted on the two lane highway all I wanted to do was get out of the truck as fast as possible. That fake sound they pump through the speakers is absolutely terrible. I was so happy to get back to the dealership and back in my Power Wagon. How the hell are they selling these trucks for $70,000 plus ADM?

Those trucks do absolutely nothing for me...even when they sported V/8 power

I know some guys that run them out in Arizona and Utah. They do real well. So, there's that, but to buy one as a DD and not use it to its capabilities, not much different than asphalt queen Wranglers.

Pretty sure the Raptor is - by far - the quickest truck out there. I don’t typically appreciate something based on how many cylinders is has, but if you can’t get over the noise, just turn the radio up.
