That raises a question. Did you break your rear? I guess it’s possible for the pinion to have the same number of teeth for different ratios but I do not think that’s how they make them? The number of teeth on the ring gear divided by the number of teeth on the pinion gives you the ratio but they are a matched set and can’t be split up like vortecd explained. Intuitively, if you had the same pinion for different ratios, the teeth on the ring gear would have to be thinner (weaker) for lower ratios to accommodate more teeth on the ring gear. Does that mean the spacing and pitch on the pinion teeth also have to be changed to work with more teeth on the ring gear?
