It's $40 a year. We all have cars worth at least $50K.
If you want to mod your car, even just putting wheels on it, we better work to stop this insanity.

NY just recently passed legislation prohibiting the modification or replacement of any factory exhaust for cars..trucks..and motorcycles..its called the "sleep safe law"..It prohibits any registered NYS inspection station from inspecting ANY vehicle with a modified exhaust...any insp. station that violates the law is subject to fine...and possible loss of inspection license....thanks Governor.....

Luckily I love the stock exhaust on my RE. My truck doesnt need to sound like a race car - it isnt one, The wife‘s car is a SUV, dont need it sounding like a fart can Civic. These insecure morons who need attention driving around nailing it everywhere they go with obnoxiously loud exhausts ruin it for everyone. I’m fine with the exhaust part tbh. The rest not so much.

Why not just have decibel levels that are reasonable? But yeh forget it NY Is the East Coast Cali now which the nut jobs in power will prevail. Most won’t fight it and just cave like the others that let the Liberal movement ruin it for all the others.

I think you are right about excessive exhaust as loud as you can to blurt out. I always liked a healthy exhaust note but don’t do that shit everywhere you go, It will F it up for everyone, and it does piss people off in residential neighbor hoods.There is a place and time for it. Even open header zoomies uncorked occasionally in the right place can cut it but, use some brains. Also I think the factory exhaust is just right. If you are just cruising around it won’t attract LEO and piss people off, but when it’s time to play, and when the time is right it can get very throaty when right foot is planted. We are in the car and don’t hear it as much as outside the car, but when you hear another factory cat getting into it the note is loud and pleasing, but again in the right place and time.

keep that bullshit going and with more and more silent electrics roaming around it will put more of a target on our back.
I would like to keep a bag of potatoes and and a wooden mallet in the trunk for every time I hear a Honda with zero power and a chrome canon exhaust maximized for loud fart noise. You can guess the rest.

All of my cars and trucks have stock exhausts...and that works for me..my motorcycles are a different matter...27 registered motorcycles...only one has factory exhaust...but I operate them as if my neighbors are sleeping...I've never had a complaint..

David, there is so much bullshit in this state, that this is just another in a long list of complaints I have. They just keep screwing the "good guys" and throwing all of the rights and benefits to the illegals, their families and convicts. Politicians cater to the urban centers as that's where their bread is buttered, never-mind the working folk who's tax dollars float this mismanaged fuckfest. I'll be out of this welfare pos state within the next 5 yrs.
