So today I decided to install my 3.09's which I bought used before I even owned a Hellcat because I thought I may want to try them. They only had 1500 miles on them. I picked up a used DSS aluminum driveshaft last summer and a few week ago bought some Gforce axles from the same guy I bought the rear from. Doing them all at once makes the most sense being they are all connected. You have to drop the exhaust for the driveshaft and rears and doing just the axles you have to disconnect the arms and brakes. The axles are only held on with one nut and come out the center so with no rear in place they come right out without taking the other stuff apart. Took the driveshaft off first then the rear and the axles. Reverse back together and also add the front brace. I started around 10 and Nick didn't make it over until 11:30 and we were done around 4. So 6 hours, probably 5 if he would have been there at 10
Driving it can't even tell there was a gear change. A lot of time you are driving at slow speeds you may only be in 4th gear where with the 3.09 you would be in 5th gear so it will be around the same rpm. The gears have a little noise which he told me about when I bought them. Every set of 3.09's in his different cars have made some noise. My Daytona was quiet so maybe some make noise. Nothing that bad. I also put the Nitto 555RII drag radials on the car. It has been cold so I have been driving with the stock rubber. I got after it pretty good and those tires hook and go. One thing I did notice about them last year and this year is they wander a little bit. I know I got used to them last year but I never noticed that with the 555R over the years on different cars
I have run in different DA last year so I can compare times with last year and see if the 3.09 are faster
