Did a chip repair once on a 2016 Charger Scat Pack - Never again. The OEM windshields typically have less distortion than aftermarket windshield due to government compliance requirements and OEM test specifications. I always replace auto glass with OEM glass when required......

Replaced my last windshield with aftermarket and swore I would only go OEM, from now on.

Seemed like it caught small chips easier... there was severe distortion, where it met the roofline, and the laminate between the gass was so cheap I always had some sort of glare.

Prolly Chinese made junk.

Go with OEM.

They tried that with my Traackhawk windshield.... Did not work... Just turned into a big star with lots of cracks thru the whole windshield....

The pressure of injecting the crack may break the window more....
They warned me that oculd happen...and of course it did on another vehicle I previously owned. Of course....I then got to pay my deductible, which I wasn't happy about...both times.

Got a rock chip on the windshield, should I go with OEM or save money with aftermarket?
Just had a oem done in my Hellcat Challenger .The windshield was under $400.00

I wonder if Dodge will come out with a hybrid Charger

It's the Battery Charger!

I can't see that really flying.

Could you make the argument that if the replacement windshield didn't have all of the matching graphics on it that it's "Not equivalent"?

I know I would at least try, insurance is supposed to "make you whole", and if I end up with "less", I'm not "whole"...

That's why I have "OEM Replacement" specified on my insurance. It costs a few dollars more, but hey....I'm worth it :)

I may have to take my car into my agent (she loves it) and check and see what I have or not.

I don't suppose you have State Farm?

I just moved the Challenger over to Hagerty and the insurance on that dropped to 1/3 of what it was previously (a little over $800 for the year now for agreed value insurance). I have Nationwide for my daily driver. I get both brands through the same agent.

Drove from KY to Toledo area to get my WB SP. 4 hour drive home, POP chip. Seriously, on the way home on temp tags.

Going to have a friend fix the chip since he's a professional, see what I can drag out, but I'm not losing my tire burning friend on the same day I bought the damn car.

OEM , especially if you want to retain the car doing a burnout graphics only oem ones have. If it’s only a small chip and not a crack you may want hold off as I’ve read cracking the seal on the original replacements are not as structurally rigid as original is.
I never noticed that till my wife pointed it out to me a couple years later

I didn't notice it either. My brother and nephew came to see the RE when I got it, and my nephew noticed right away. I only had the car a day at that point though. Lol.

That sucks but hopefully they can fix it. I got my fist chip two days after getting my car on the way to work, and by the time I got to work it had spread 18 inches or so across the windshield. No choice but replacement for me. When I called in the claim, they asked me if there were any logos or anything on the windshield, and I told them about the little Challenger in the lower left corner. I got an OEM windshield but had to wait a day or so to get it. Safelite did the work.
