I'm seeing a definite horsepower war, I believe it's inevitable that the government will put a cap on horsepower for production vehicles. More horsepower, more stupidity and more deaths. JMO

I thought that years ago... and here we are still pushing the HP. With the new electric cars hitting 1000hp you would think they would at some point.

Nope cant see that happening but what I see happening is the EPA ICE age requirements cap the HP possibilities. And as a Manufacture what really is bing accomplished by creating 1000 HP ICE cars???? When you can win the EPA wars by making EV 1000 plus HP cars???? And as we all know put a 1000HP motor in our Hellcats and the traction issues is huge for daily driving. But hell yeah would love to see a 1000HP Factory Hellcat but can honesty say she will be off the road rather quickly for most since she will just bust loose way to easily.

That would against the 1st Amendment! "Too much horsepower, is just enough."

I am an old guy so I have seen these power wars before.
Up and into 1970 cars were making power, not like our 700+ hp cars but they were fast, and sometimes dangerous.
1971 about have the care came with lower compression, etc.
1972 it was all over.
I was young at the time so I don't really know the whole story.
I do know insurance companies jacked up the insurance really high on performance vehicles and some vehicles they would not insure at all.
People quit buying them.
Compression kept dropping, smaller valves in the heads, no more forged motors etc.
From what I remember (and that's not much) it was all the insurance companies doing, but I could be wrong.

Hope it does not happen again but if it did the value of our cars would shoot to the moon.
My.02,
Varooom

They need to put a Redeye crate motor in the Pres. limo. That’ll make them appreciate where we're coming from :ROFLMAO:
