Making room for tools was a priority of mine in the design. The jaws of your backup wrench, like a crescent wrench for example, can fit over the aluminum block while you break loose and tighten the drain plug.
Here's pictures of the access opening in both the Charger and the Challenger after the kit is installed. In both cases the neighboring oil return line is actually closer to the aluminum block area than the edge of the front shield, after the cut is made.
