They’re going to add an annual tax for registration for EVs to make up for loss gas tax like Tx just did. Only you won’t know how you screwed yourself by buying an EV until they introduce and sign the law in Ca lol

IL proposed a $2,000 annual registration fee to offset gas taxes!!!

When they did this, they raised gas tax to .36/gallon. Its now .43/gallon and goes up again in July.
But say you average 16k miles a year in a car that gets 20mpg that is only $336/year in fuel tax.

Even driving 20k miles in a 12mpg vehicle is only going to net the state $717!

The sad part is, the lefties were all set to pass this into law until a loud uproar from the EV crowd called them out on their bullshit. It was tabled until a later date.
Don't think other states won't just replace the gas tax. They are going to double it or more!
Once they have you by the balls, they will squeeze you for every penny they can get.

EV is a hard sell now for most
They are not to attractive
They are overpriced compared to ICE
They are definitely not reliable in any form of poor weather
We are all paying out of our pockets for rebates already
We are all paying out of pocket for the billions & billions going to the manufacturing plants to push the lies
Then we will be paying out of our pockets for lost revenue
Wait until you own one for 3 or 4 years & the battery life is shit tanking
Resale will be shit
The list is long

There was something on ebay where I guy was trying to buy a car from Illinois and bring it to California and he wasn't able to. Thinking if you live in a state where they are going to do this you would not be able to register it

As is happening throughout Europe, there will be a tax on the # of miles driven + tax-by-plate (via cameras) for driving in selected areas during peak times.
It will start in the major 'downtown' areas, then slowly spiral out to the burbs. Gas taxes will continue to tick up to punish us ICE users, but they will also start adding taxes to the charging stations. Even if you charge at home, the car will 'report' on the Kw consumed & it will be taxed as well.

Currently California imports 26% of their energy from other States/Regions. That is on an average day. Ask the Sacramento area what happened last September when God really turned up the heat! They were screwed.
