Guys, do me a favor and assume that beauty is completely subjective - because it is.

Just don't even look at the pics for now.
Look at the stats - pretty amazing. Straight line performance
rivaling besting a Hellcat - who needs DA?!?. Offroad capabilities that rival the best of the best. Towing is remarkable. It is said that it handles like it is on rails by those who have ridden in it.
Look at the cost - pretty amazing. I haven't gotten a close look at all of the options, but I imagine the standard equipment offered at $39k crush the domestic competition. Imports don't stand a chance at that price point.
Look at the functionality - pretty amazing. Seating for 6. Ramp in the bed. Durable - though not indestructible - build materials. 500miles is more range than my kitty, and actually longer than any road trip (one way) I've taken the car on in its 38,000 mile life.
Seeing a pattern? The truck is pretty amazing is it is a sum of its parts.
Yes, they're taking orders.
Yes, they've completely redesigned what a "truck" looks like... it won't be mistaken on the road like the other Tesla models - that is for sure, and that was their objective. It isn't too far off from prototypes that the domestics have made... only they're taking it a step further.
It looks like a truck I would want to be picked up in from school... which I dig. My kids will dig it. It'll do what I need it to, for the most part - me thinks.
It won't pull my 5th wheel, but I don't want another 1 ton, I want this to be my completely capable and amazing daily driver, that runs off of coal.
RE: The Delorean remark - yes. If you haven't been following Elon's space odyssey - she is using stainless steel on his shuttles because it's an excellent material for the job. It's better than the ceramics and exotic materials used in the past. So, since he has stake in the game, he's using his volume discounts to give us a superior product. Where are you going to put your magnets though... that should be your biggest concern
FWIW - I've spent a lot of time with a Rivian at the NY Auto Show. It was interesting, had a bunch of storage, but I haven't seen any performance numbers that they'll stand behind yet.
I don't think retrofitting EV tech into an F150 is a great path forward for Ford. We'll see how that goes.
