This car actually gets good gas millage. LOL. I am following the 0-100, 101-300, 301-500 mile break in. Phase one done. Bumping back and forth between 50 and 55mph on the interstate around Houston at 9 pm makes you realize people haul ass on the freeway in Houston. First time ever I have driven over 1 mile and not passed anyone. Make it a 100 miles tonight with zero cars passed.

100 miles tomorrow and 100 Thursday and phase two will be complete.

I drove mine home 40 miles from the dealer at 70 plus miles an hour. It had 6 miles on it. Never caused an issue.

I think the major issue is just not beating on it for a while. How in the hell can you drive 55 with everyone flying by you? You will get killed. These engines come ready to go. I think they just don’t want you to kill yourself. After all pretty much zero percent of the population has ever even sniffed a 700+ HP car!

Before leaving the factory the engine is run in on the dyno for 42 minutes, at least that's they way it used to be. The break in period is for things like the rear axle, transmission, driveline, and so on. I think its also good to break in the driver slowly, as most have never driven a rocket ship like this....

I followed break in also. Check for oil consumption as well early on. Mine used 1qt over first 2,200 miles. Changed oil at 2,200 also and hasn't used any oil since. Now at 11,350 or so. Enjoy and be safe.

It was torture driving like that. I stayed in the far right lane and watched everyone fly right by. At least tonight I will bump it up to 70 per instructions.

Drive that baby up here to Dallas and she will be broken it juuuust right :ROFLMAO: I purchased my RE last December in Minnesota and drove her down over 2 days. I started with 9mi on the ODO and ended up with a little over 1K. Break In.....COMPLETE!!!!

I drove her using the cruise control and ensured to strictly follow the break in procedure. Some may say drive it like you Stole it! Who knows if it made a difference but I was on eggshells lol

Cruise control is the worst thing you can do. Sure it might be a nice nanny mode to keep you within the limits of the procedure, but you want to vary the RPM as much as possible. One constant RPM is not ideal....

Your gas mileage will go up as well, mine went from right around there to 24.5 at highway speeds. And yes, definitely check oil. Mine burnt 3 qts total over 6k miles but seems to have slowed down now to about 1/10 qt every 2 weeks. I will know Monday if that has further diminished.

Remember from 300-500 they recommend you beat the living shit out of it! Haha.. I mean “Exorcise the rpm band”. Yeah this is important.. you can smell the break in a bit on the SC once you first start hitting 4-5500 rpm.

I’m at 215 miles now. 85 to go. Beat it but not over 85mph and no WOT for extended periods.

I took my car home February 1 just before a snow storm. Roads were clear of salt until then. I parked it in garage at that point until April. it was torture. when I took it out in spring I found out the drivers window didn’t work. No reason to put it down at this point. Back to the dealer I go. A factory worker put a screw through a wire. I guess it was time for lunch? When I got car back I finished break in one weekend.

Drove mine 848kms (about 500 miles) home from the dealership respecting the break in procedure as best as possible. Fun fact: my car showed up with 25kms (delivery mileage) on the odometer and 3.5 hours of run time before I took ownership. Got to imagine someone just had to take the rare manual transmission Hellcat for a joy ride, and those 3.5 hours were most likely spent at idle - which is in direct contrevention of the break-in procedures listed by FCA. Yes, the dealership was notified of the later in writing.

My point: Just drive the fucking thing normally - you won't hurt it.

Got mine over with in 1 weekend. Drove to Atlanta and back, 500 up and 499 back, 22 mpg. Cops all thru Georgia Labor Day weekend. Couldn't get over 75 on 75. Hate the drive and the road. But got it over with fast. Then burn out city. Computer will tale it's tale.
