Monoco F1 was on this morning and it started raining. Way better in my opinion. Indy does have a lot more popularity in Michigan then in did in Colorado. Gordon Johncock is from Hastings, MI where my dad grew up and is now

I watched some of Monoco, too. Did Aston Martin hang on to second place?

I attended Indy in ‘68, ‘69, and ‘70. Great years. Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt, both Unsers, Bruce Mclaren, Dan Gurney, Gordon Johncock, … Cosworth vs Offenhauser and the STP turbine cars(‘69). The most beer I’ve ever seen in my entire life the night before while parked in the field outside the gates. Good times.

I’m sure he will be answering that question with “I have no idea”. The biggest thing going on with the crash was that wheel going over the fence and just missing the stands. If that had gone into the crowd, they would have been stopping the race for dead spectators. They didn’t want to talk about what almost happened.

Actually we didn’t, but there was just so much of it. Cars lined up in a field about a half mile long and half mile wide all night long. By late night, it was solid cars. In the morning when the gates opened, the grass was practically paved with beer bottles. You just had to listen to the bottles popping under your tires as you drove in. Some of the hung-over drunks didn’t want to follow the zigzag line and tried to cut in. I saw a couple slow motion fender benders and busted headlights when neither driver would yield. Really a bizarre scene.
