Found a Cat trailer that looks pretty good, is there anything I’m missing?

It appears that David has a very good eye. The original pic did have the car too far forward. I was checking straps today and positioned the car for 10% tongue weight and it looks al lot like the pics you guys posted. This is why I ask you guys for help, you seem to really know your chit! Thanks again! (Yeah, I know it's not level in the pics, it's on the jack. I did have to change the ball mount to one with more drop.) IMG_0051.jpeg

I want a hitch with a tongue weight gauge. That way you can adjust the load as needed.

You'll never be wrong with a weight safe hitch and a set of air springs in the truck.

They're great hitches.

But they cost more than a real tongue weight scale, I think, which is more accurate.

The make, model, width, length, weight, year. Please
Sorry, I'm old, don't understand the question. What is "mind sharing"? Is that what I read about in 1984? :)

It is a CL special. 20' Rance 7k alum trailer with an alum deck, 1350#, lighter than the trailers with a wood deck. 2-3 years old.

I only have a 1/2t, an I am concerned about pulling the car 350mi each way, not to mention some rolling hills. I ran across a 20' steel 10k tilt trailer less than a year old. It had a 12k winch added. Cost the same as this Rance. Better trailer all around, but weight was 3K# before the winch. I wanted it bad, would have been a no brainer if I had a 3/4t, sadly I had to pass.

One thing someone pointed out, if you have a trailer with a capacity way beyond the load, you will get a harsh ride. A friend transports his HC on a 14k trailer, he has to stop a lot to tighten the straps. Maybe because of the harsh ride?? As it is, I estimate 5600 on the 7k trailer, I like that ratio. In Aug I'll have better data.

I’m going to be towing with my rango r/t, towing capacity is only 7400 lbs

Possibly, but more likely because of how the car is tied down.

For example, my 2,500 lb. Jeep used to ride in the far back of a trailer with a 42,000-lb. weight capacity, but it was tied down to unsprung parts (the axles) and never needed retightening of the straps, despite its squishy tires.

Of course, the air suspension on the tractor and trailer helped, but if using wheel nets or straps over the tires, it really doesn't matter if the trailer has any suspension at all. Yes, the suspension on the car will get a workout, but the straps should remain tight.

A WD hitch will be your friend.

I went with the RWD for the extra 200lbs towing capacity and burnouts 😅

I can only hope you're right.

And it's been said that God protects drunks and idiots. I'm living proof of that.

Depends on whether you are going to the dragway 15mi away, or going cross country. Vehicles can be overloaded a lot, just don't expect them to do it for a long distance!

30y ago when I moved back east I was pulling an overloaded uhaul with my S10 Blazer. Don't remember where, I was going down a long downhill on 90 at 70 or so (this was before I calmed down) and the trailer started pushing the S10 back and forth, up and down, trailer seemed to decide it wanted to be in front, a white knuckle minute. Took a while to gently slow enough to get back full control. The rest of the ride was slower! :ROFLMAO:

Every time Jimmy gives me advice, I think of that ride. ;)

This has trailer brake controls. Not far, hour to 1.5 hour hauls
