Shrug I'm not wild about the car either.

Way easier and cheaper to do some light mods to a Hellcat and be right there.

It's not about the absolute performance of the 170, which I agree is fairly easy to achieve via aftermarket, but rather, that an OEM has the balls to build and deliver such a beast of a car of this caliber that meets the regulatory requirements levied upon them, and with a factory warranty. This is unprecedented thus far.

If ADM wasn’t in the way and bare MSRP of $ 96,666 I think there is reasonable value with consistent repeatable results. Yes someone could take a used Hellcat or RE hop it up and get similar result. How reliable, How much mod, repeatable. I am willing to bet with upgraded driveshaft, Diff, half shafts there will be less breakage. We shall see by late summer if it is worth it. Certainly not if the foolish ADM is present. very few will get it for MSRP so moot point. Just my .02

I get it, and cool and all, but maybe I have a different perspective on these since I work on mine so much. If they made them as a standard offering rather than some one off race car that has a VIN I'd be much more excited about it.

I would've been looking to get something new this year or next and if Dodge had offered a RE170 narrow body for a reasonable price I'd have bought one.

I also kinda like having a customized car as that makes it more unique, but I can work on them so for me that's probably easier said than done for some folks that have to go to a shop for everything. Mine ran 9.63 at over 145mph on a baby tune (Jon's seen my logs and gives me crap about being so conservative). I also had an issue that severely impacted ET and was in +1200 DA and I'm guessing these cars will be 9.30 cars at around 148mph on a good day so my perspective is a bit different there as well. I think I've resolved the issue, the car was just making more power than I expected and hit a limit, but still ran 9.63.

The fastest I've ever seen an OG Demon run at my local track stock is a 10.30 at 131. Lightly modified with all the tricks 9.8x at 135 if memory serves.

Maybe I'm just bitter they're not gonna make em' anymore and that pisses me off.

Eeee gaaad. Just watched the Jay Leno video. Man that is pretty hard to watch, Jay had almost no idea about the car or what went on in Vegas. Jay actually thought the car ran 8.91 twice in Vegas. Definitely losing a step but he is 72 I guess.

@Speedy! - @jgilj in good DA went 9.2x with your same setup but he is stock 2.7. Just a bigger tire and his car is the super stock.
@TNREDEYE has been 9.4 on e85 and stock boost. Making no were near 22psi.
@ 22psi i have went 8.88.
No doubt it is a badass car. But it should be being sold as a badass car and not a collectors items. There are a lot of other cars I'd rather have for over 200k. Very cool dodge took it to this level. If you can get one for msrp I think it is a good deal for what you get. Sure for msrp i'd buy one. For these mark ups no thanks. Also assigning allocations has taken all competition out the sales. As cool as Dodge was for making the car. Subtract as many points for the allocation deal that causes the mark ups

I heard in So Cal it is spot on 85% every time. So I plan on filling some containers when I go to Irwindale.

I also wonder what the true reason is for having to run more fuel in the tank when running E85. I can see if you run aftermarket pump/pumps and you lose the jet pump scavenging the Pass side of the tank. But with stock Demon/Redeye pumps and a boost a pump that would not be the case. These cars still seem to drop pressure when you get just under 1/2 tank. Definately by 1/3 tank. I assume with the injectors maxing out and the ramp up of the pumps with the boost a pump they just cavitate from a combination of fuel slosh and the big sudden draw of fuel.

So, the Million Dollar question. What will happen with the D170? I plan on putting in a security gateway bypass on day one so I will get some data logs. Hopefully HP Tuners will have support in place for this car. Likely yes since there have been other 23's out for a while now. @Speedy!
