Getting the oil changed in my Hellcat tomorrow. Only put 240 miles on it since October but required to get it done every 6 months regardless of the mileage! Ridiculous![dunno]

Pretty ridiculous for low mileage cars.
We all have to play the warranty game.
I am getting a set of Michelin PS4's and they have a 30k warranty if you rotate them according to the contract.
I wonder how this will work out LOL!

Yeah that sucks just wasting it (oil) , but if you still have warranty better to be safe.

Yes it is a waste but required for warranty purposes. If the drained oil was the correct weight I would just reuse it in my truck.

I run 5/30 M1 in my firebird (ls1), and my pickup (vortec 5.7) and change them out of boredom. Usually only have 500 miles on each when I change them. I reuse that oil in my crappy old work beater '99 suburban (also vortec 5.7). Getting my money's worth out of it, and always have fresh clean oil in the other two.

Classy ladies require extra special treatment. Wanna change it every 1 or 2 years, should have got a hood rat. 😂

I dont think so. If you had an oil-related failure and they could prove that 200 miles in 7 months caused it (good luck to FCA on that).

That 6 month BS is a fear-tactic handout to the dealers from the OEM.

No one's warranty is getting canceled or refused over this.

Agree that it’s total BS, but there was a member here or that other forum that claimed to have had a warranty denial because he was a little late on the six months. I guess if true, and the service mgr wants to be a prick, taking any legal action is a hassle.

I do my own oil changes, keep the receipts and log the changes. I do mine every 6 months because that is what Dodge requires, since I never reach the mileage. When my warranty expires, I will do the oil changes as I see fit. Until then I keep on a strict schedule. Honestly though, it's not really a big deal to do the oil change twice a year, and gives me piece of mind knowing my oil is fresh and my Redeye is happy.

What are dealers charging for oil changes out of curiosity?

There’s been plenty of discussion and some evidence at BITOG, that excessively frequent oil changes actually increase metal wear. The tribological film that forms on parts is stripped off by the fresh dose of detergents. [dunno]

I cancelled it because of the weather forecast. Going back on Monday.

Easy for you to say.
Having five vehicles that technically should have a 6-month change, it would get old real quick.
Besides, I have other vehicles that really would appreciate an oil change every now and then.

So your problem is that you have too many vehicles?. Such a tough problem, how do you sleep at night? :ROFLMAO:

I do my Redeye's oil change personally because I enjoy it and I want to make sure it's done right. My daily driver I take to the dealer to get done. In part because Toyota Care gives me 2 years free maintenance, but also because it's a lease and I don't care lol.

Yeah, it's definitely a self induced problem. And it's not too many, it's way too many.
