Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling 441,578 Dodge Chargers from the 2011 to 2016 model years. According to a bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, those vehicles may be at risk of slipping off their jacks when lifted.

The Charger's problem is rooted in its body-side sill assembly. NHTSA reports that that sill can give way if the car is lifted with the tire jack supplied by FCA without first chocking the wheels. Should that happen, the Charger's jack can fail, too, allowing the car to fall and increasing the risk of injury to those nearby.

The recall affects 2011-2016 Dodge Chargers built between August 23, 2010 and January 7, 2016. The fix for those vehicles involves providing owners with chocks for their wheels.

Unfortunately, those chocks aren't yet in stock. FCA plans to send out preliminary recall notices by early April, with a follow-up letter issued once the parts become available.

If you own one of these vehicles and have questions, you're encouraged to contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and ask about recall #S03. Alternately, you can contact NHTSA directly at 888-327-4236 and ask about safety campaign #16V043000.
