That's my theory. Breaking it at the track sucked . I got very lucky that I didn't damage anything other then the drive shaft . Next time could be a lot worse ! I have spoke to 7 drive line shops all over North America and I'm not making this decision on a whim.
Shame you found the weak link in that last driveshaft the way you did, it was obvious that it had some inherent design/material selection flaws upon inspection. It is my opinion that a lot of shops capitalized on those early driveshaft failures and threw what they knew, or thought they knew, at the problem and others just jumped on the fear mongering coat tails. Those concepts were carried forward ad-nauseam until all the NVH issues reared their heads earlier this year and forced a change. Now the question is, will this next wave of parts actual meet the requirements or is it just another batch of nonsense?

This isn't to suggest that your chosen vendor isn't top notch or that you didn't do your research or that you don't require the part. But, man is there a lot of BS floating around out there about what modifications these cars "need" and who's parts are "best" - and it costs a lot of people a lot of money. Needlessly so.

I’m glad my car doesn’t have enough power to break driveshafts
Ya know, funny you should chime in on this . That's a good point. You're rompi'n the piss out of your car a lot and your drive shaft survives, but the tranny goes. @cole3986 and others say they've done this and that and their tranny is fine but they've lost axles. @Speedy! has run his car at the same level and less than some others and lost the motor. Their seems to be no common link on alot of this stuff except the vibrations in the after market one piece driveshafts being problematic and are basically a 'known quantity' (deficient/defective aftermarket)as @motorhead pointed out.

The common denominator is the fatness of our cars. That’s what breaks parts the most. Launching a 4500 brick with 800-1200 whp. Put as much strong stuff in as you want, but that weight does damage to everything all the time. If you want stuff to survive longer, shed weight. Try and get it to 4000lbs without you in it.

I am willing to bet if you just enjoyed these cars as designed, and drove it appropriately, it would have few failures. Modifications and abuse lead to failure - that is the root cause. Adding power to a fat pig just makes it more likely to break a leg when it starts running.

You can strip hundreds of pounds out of these cars without upsetting the nature of the beast. I've talked about optimization before and I am not going to belabour those points again. But, starting with a stripper car is half the battle - 2019 finally gave us that option.

Drag cars don't need ass coolers.

If I did that the car might go quicker. 😀

No I'm sure it would go quicker. LOL

When I get some time I'm going to post a list of all the weight saving items I have weighed personally and some I'm going by the manufacturer.

Enjoy as designed? Like don’t modify them? Most guys on here are modifying the car.

What are you talking about??
Sigh. You are just going to make a point of butting heads with me from now on, aren't you? Fine... let's do this.

Yes. Don't modify them if you want to avoid breaking them. Seriously. If anyone is going to be an emotionally stunted cry baby about how "Dodge failed us" by not building the Hellcats with Top Fuel levels of durability and performance potential for pennies they are delusional fucktards; and dragging us all down by association.

Dodge owes you nothing beyond what you were sold.

700+hp with a warranty. That's it, nothing more.

Beyond stock power the onus is on you. Modify it and everything goes out the window. 3.17 pulleys, one piece driveshafts, diff braces, etc are all indication to Dodge you are ABUSING your car. Bye bye warranty, bye bye reliability. There are some seriously entitled creatures running around in Hellcats who have zero appreciation for the realities of hotrodding. You see 1000hp builds on the internet and suddenly suffer an inferiority complex in fear your e-penis of automotive relevance looks to shrivel into obscurity if you don't have one too. Yet, these ego maniacal turds will plop down the money on those staged packages promising 1000 ponies and still want to run pump gas (because getting good fuel is inconvenient) on stock running gear (because why put all the supporting mods in place) at a full 4500+lbs of fully-bloated Hellfat (because no fat car shaming) and adding proper safety gear is heresy (because why value your life more than your car, right?).

This mentality is so counter-intuitive it is both perplexing and frustrating to observe. And heaven forbid you speak ill of anyone who has bought into this socially acceptable behaviour as you risk being labelled as a pariah within the community. The absence of good judgement and better sense is disturbing.

@Hpindy, pardon my soiling your thread. Looking forward to seeing what you have in the works.

start using those pics more often. They save you lots of typing
Clearly you need pictures to enhance your comprehension. Refute my points. Don't just throw a tantrum.
