He had a good run burning the candle at both ends, and lived the fast life for decades. I am surprised he went to 81. Him paired with Stills, and Nash had some of the best singing/harmonizing ever, and yes he did have good songwriting ability.

He had, something like lung, kidney and something else transplanted if I remember correctly.

Seen my share of great concerts over the years but the best one will always be the CSNY concert I saw in Cleveland. It would have been early 2000 or 2001 I think. I remember Neil Young losing his hat on stage and there wasn't much hair there. I remember him playing an old Buffalo Springfield song "Somethings Happening Here" and using the whammy bar and harmonics on the guitar to simulate part of the songs memorable intro. Graham Nash came on stage barefooted. Their harmonies were legendary. Crosby was great as usual (Byrds and CSN) and together with Stills were incredible to watch and listen to. I was surprised a little to see a couple of concert goers behind me that looked really young and was pleased to see someone that young enjoy their music. After the concert ended, one of them said to me "That was the best concert I've ever seen". They were special that night. Crosby and Nash didn't get along at all and I guess he had a falling out with Young over making a comment about Neil's girlfriend. They were magic on stage though.
