A couple of thoughts (see, how long did my vacation last?, hours???):

This is about saving our home and living to fight another day.

And yes, it's also about getting back to the cars that brought us all here together as a community in the first place.

We can all spew all the hyperbole we want, but at the end of the day, our home is at the whim of people that can literally click us away. Think about where we as a community rank in the world of people that have been cancelled for the exact same thing that we are doing, have been doing, and with this small change, can continue to do with much less worry about the consequences.

This wasn't easy, and wasn't done without thought and discussion.

I agree with your assessment and changes Bull. I will say that all the chaos never bothered me much because I’d just move on and not participat much if at all in the thread. I don’t do Facebook, but I have experienced a couple of forums that dried up because everyone switched to a Facebook version and again, I don’t do Facebook. Please, let’s promise to never move this forum there. Oh paleeeaase...

Every now and then all forums become soap boxes for some people’s agendas. Topics tend to stray into areas not connected to the primary purpose of said forums. I have not been here long but I have seen the plethora of information that you folks have accumulated. Whether it’s on the 1/4 mile or DGatzby’s track racing all of you contribute invaluable information to each other.
Every now and then it is great to have an airing of grievances and to right the ship if need be. Don’t anyone take your ball and go home. Think of the information you have acquired and presented to this forum. Seems to me this is one of the most civil and informative forums there is. It would be a sin if any of you chose not to participate anymore.
I’m just an old guy with a fast car like 1971Demon and the knowledge I’ve gained from the contributors here make me want to race till I’m a hundred. Which won’t be long.

To be fair, Bull took the leadership role to write the thread and doesn't deserve to solely fall on the sword. We all discussed the situation and voted to move forward with this. Bull is a natural leader and more times than not plays the bad guy for our collective decisions.

I have found it easier to just click past what doesn’t interest me, and move on to what dose, not a big deal for me. I typically just move on to non political based thread, but occasionally will read Them. Very seldom if ever do I dabble and post up about it. Doesn’t mean I agree or disagree with folks I just think it will most Likely will not go over well at some point. The one thing that would suck is if cool people flew the coupe over it. I hope people don’t view it as a gag order, or being suppressed. Let’s see how this pans out. We all can go and check out the threads you want or don’t want to surf on. Me I will probably will occasionally surf the posts in question. But for the most part will surf the core thing that brings me here the cars. There is a lot of other threads that all off us share in common that doesn’t have anything car related count em up there is plenty for everyone, you just pick and choose what you want to jump on.This site is way cooler than other places, and for the most part at liberty to say most anything. I certainly don’t want to go somewhere that jack shit won’t fly, it’s still heads up best game in town. For what it’s worth Im not amongst those who were displeased with political based posts. Quick question, is there a way to mass watch all forums at once? I just tried above and it seems like New Posts is just pulling AG section plus any old thread I may have commented or subd to, but not read the latest posts.

I'm all for what's in the best interest of the general membership...whatever the resolution...make it simple...(remember I'm an idiot)...I guess I am just suspect of the timing...all during Covid..even prior to the election..and after..the political posts were consistent on a daily basis...and although more than a few voiced concerns...there was never any initiative to modify things...so the question it raises is whos feathers got ruffled...political posts were never higher than after the election..it consumed quite a few...and nothing changed...like I've said..I've never started a political thread.I have no skin in the game...just concerned that one or more select members who may have had a recent issue can effect change by threatening to take their marbles and go home..

Any timing is coincidental. This has been brewing in the background for a bit. To some extent it's been pushed off because there wasn't necessarily a good answer and because it was pretty clear that not everybody was going to be OK with it. It came up yet again and the decision was made to come up with a solution that kept everybody's ability to continue with the topics, but changed where/how viewed. You might have noticed a bit back we moved many of the threads but didn't post up the notice. Even that wasn't taken well, so it was clear that doing this wouldn't be any better.

I like and agree with much of the content, but getting punched in the face with it constantly was getting to be too much.

And the idea wasn't that anybody was threatening to leave with destruction as a motivation, but to keep members from leaving due to the daily drain what a lot come here to escape from in the first place. Start counting the truly active members and then start removing them from the count and it won't take long before our core is gone. We have already lost a couple of key members, I'd just as soon not lose any more.

You can say avoid it, but that's like saying avoid the wind in a hurricane.
